Arrow need help for when I have a baby

Hi. My name is Sarah...I am 23. I have Spastic CP and use a walker. I was hoping that some of you who are parents and disabled may be able to help me for future reference. My husband and I are thinking about the future (having kids specifically), and even though he doesn't want to talk about TTC for another 2 years, this is something that I need to think about now.

So, if you have CP and are a parent...

I'd really like to know of baby carriers that work(ed) well for you, cribs, etc. Please post links

I'm able to get around with very little help (most of the time, I don't need it)

Thank you for any replies.

Re: need help for when I have a baby

Hi Sarah and welcome

I to. have spastic CP and I am a mother to 3 beautiful children. They are now 19, 18, and 16. I never had any special equipment when my kids were babies. I have the use of my right arm and leg and I needed very little help with anything I learned to adjust with what I had to work with and I did fine. I am sure you will to Don't be afraid to ask for help either. If you need certain types of cribs, carriers etc I suggest you talk to your doctor. Maybe he can point you in the right direction to where to get these items from.

Take Care

Maybe contact an Occupational Therapist? They are innovative and have all kinds of gadgets . Umm, you could also try doing a search for "disabled parent".

When you have kids, post about what you used/needed, because I use a walker too and was wondering the same things!
