Growing up, my ortho always told me that it's in my best interest to stay thin so I can continue to walk to the best of my ability. So I guess I have pretty much always had that in the back of my mind. Right now I am about to turn 15, am about 4'11" and stay between about 88-90 lbs. I have also heard people with CP burn more calories than others, because simple movement takes a lot more effort from our muscles. I know that at my age a lot of girls are self concious about their bodies, but the thought of gaining any weight at all reallyt scares me for a lot of reasons, but part of it is for fear of not walking. Also, this past year, A boy at school asked me "What happens if you get so fat you fit in your wheelchair anymore?" and that hit me kind of hard. I'm on an extremely strict almost vegan vegetarian diet, practice sports twice a week (not counting the games, training clinics, camps, ect.) and work very hard in physical therapy, and I don't think i am "fat" or overweight now, I just am very scared of getting that way. The fear isn't entirely based on CP, but it is a part of it. Can anyone share how CP has effected their weight or vice versa?
