Hey all, My son just got home from the hospital today and now has "2 bellybuttons" as we told him! Tonight I gave him a shallow bath, so as not to immerse the button. Afterwards, something looking like pus seemed to be coming from it. Although I'd washed the area w/ soap and water in the tub, I went ahead and cleaned around the area w/ peroxide and a q-tip. I would be very surprised if infection had already set in on the day of his discharge, and my husband thinks it has something to do w/ the area getting wet. Once the are dried, it almost looked like rubber cement instead of pus. Does anyone have any idea if they use some sort of gooey adhesive after surgery or something?
I have a feeling this won't be my only question related to the feeding tube. So if any of you out there has had to go through the feeding tube thing, chime in and tell me about your experience w/ it once you got home, please.
