Question puberty

I have a six year old son, and recently he started getting pubic hair and having man issues. The doctor's say this is normal for a child with CP as severe as my son, but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with their child developing early.

Re: puberty

Hmm...this sounds very peculiar. No, i have never heard of such. I have heard of a premature-puberty in girls today, probably due to chemicals in out environment. But never due to severe CP.

Re: puberty

Hi - I'm so sorry I didn't see this post before - My son is 13.5 now, but has had pubic and underarm hair since he was approximately six. We were told by our CP doc that in kids with severe brain damage the signals in the brain are sometimes confused and that it's fairly common for these kids to start showing signs of puberty really young, but that it's not true puberty. He also started getting some mild acne, blackheads and oiliness in the face at around ten.
