Thumbs down is it normal

My 10 month old son has CP, undiagnosed, but CP none the less. He has his bottom two teeth and the second top tooth has just come in. I have never had a child (and I have 4) to grind their teeth but he does. Is this a normal action for a CP child?

Re: is it normal

Hi there, even some kids without CP grind their teeth, the sound is maddening. My own daughter who has CP doesn't grind her teeth but I have noticed a lot of other little ones (with CP) who do. I haven't asked about it, but maybe it's a sensory thing?? Or maybe it's just another form of muscle contractions.

Re: is it normal

Get it checked. CP is about the signals to the muscles being messed up and it could be that muscles in the jaw. BUT its so difficult to know what they would do anyway and what is the CP. Push for your diagnosis and then professionals will be so much more helpful.

Re: is it normal

Our grandson has CP and he grinds his teeth from time to time. He is two and has a mouthful right now. But good idea to follow the last reply advice.
