| 40 years old with cp, i fell and having great difficulty walking
Hello,
I am about to turn 40 years old in June. I have had cp for these many years and have managed very well on a pair of crutches. On March 30th, I was walking in my driveway and fell. A that time, I dislocated my finger and went to the emegency room to have it taken care of. My finger was the only problem. On March 30th, I was walking fine and able to use my crutches to get around as I always had before.
It was not until about a week and a half later that I started noticing little problems. The most obvious one was increased difficulty standing. Even with my crutches, I could not stand for more than a minute. At this time, I was not really concerned because I was still able to walk.
Now, the problem has gotten worse and I can no longer support myself on my crutches. Last week, I had gone to my neurologist, the only thing he suggested was to increase my baclofen pills. When I went to see him, I was taken 30 mg a day. The baclofen makes me very dizzy and light headed so I told him I did not want to take anymore. I had to go to that appointment in a wheelchair which I never had to do before. I always walked in with my crutches.
It might be of interest that I can walk pushing a shopping cart or back of a wheelchair.
In a couple of weeks, I am going to see a doctor who I have seen many times over the years. I really believe he will know what to do or at least take steps to find out what the cause of the problem is. I am very excited. It is just difficult to get an appointment with him. As anyone with cp, experienced this type of problem? Any information, support or ecouragement you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
