Effects of High Altitude on CP
I have a question. My hubby and I are traveling to the Big Island of Hawaii this summer. We both really want to take a tour up to Mauna Kea, and the summit is just under 14,000 feet above sea level. However, we don't want to take risks if they mean one of us will wind up in the hospital or worse! So... my question is, has anybody (with CP) ever gone up or visited at a high altitude? Lived at a high altitude? (We'll only be up at 14,000 for 45-60 minutes at the most). We would also spend plenty of time acclimating.
My husband also has a Baclofen pump. Would that be an issue?
I think, medically speaking, I may have more issues than he would, but I wanted to be safe. We will certainly talk to our doctors before we go, too, but I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience.
