Adult CP

Does anyone know a specialist on adult CP in either Central or South Florida? Please I need help with all of my medical issues but no doctor in my area knows how to manage CP in adults.

Hello, I don't have an answer for you, but really glad you brought this up. Many of us can relate to this I'm sure. We grow up, we get older, we have to deal with all the extra cumulative stresses on the body because of how we have had to adapt our way of doing things to function in life. Most professionals have no clue, and there is a great deal of emphasis on kids only.

Re: Adult CP

Finding medical professionals who know something about CP, and who are actually willing to see adults is a real challenge. I lucked into my doctor using a search engine at the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine. Sadly, their search engine is--and has been---down for upgrades for a while. If you do a google search, you can find AACPDM and if the search engine ever comes back up, you might try it.

I did, however, find another search engine at an organization called WeMove that is devoted to helping people with movement disorders, including CP. I don't know anything about the docs listed but if you search CP and Florida, you get a list of 5 specialists.

I also have zero grasp of Florida geography, so I have no idea how close any of these folks are to you. Can't hurt to make some calls or send emails.

Good luck!
