Hi all...what a great place for me to land. Thank you in advance for your help and especially for your patience since I know this aint the 1st time you've heard all this!!
OK, so I have all this damage in my neck from a snowboarding accident 10 years ago and it just flared up this past November. I haven't felt my right index and middle fingers since then, along with a bunch of other related issues. Its getting to the point where it hurts just to hold my head up. I have surgery scheduled for May 18th. My doc is a terse, silent genius. What should I ask him?????
For the time being I do have some questions for you:
-am i being dramatic or should I complete an advance directive?
-how, during surgery, if your airway is pushed to the side for access, do you get oxygen?
-I have heard peoples hospital stays of up to a week. Is that 'normal'? I thought this was a 2 dayer. So then, what are the real complications of this surgery?
-I live alone (I just moved closer to my kids but they're still 4 hrs away). Do I really need help once I get home?
Thank you all so much. Terri in the Bay
