Hello Everyone! I'm new to the forum!
Hi, I just joined the board in hopes of finding support. I am 22 years old and I have had cerebral palsy since birth. I wore afos as a child and I hated them. When I was in 4th grade I had my hamstrings released. In middle school, I twisted my ankle from my feet turning out and it took me forever to recoup. After that everything was going great for a while other than I needed to use my wheelchair more (I use a kaye walker around my house and wheekchair for distance). Had Physical therapy in high school a few months until it got to be to much for me with my coursework. It did help though and I felt better. However, I was been in-denial for years about my cp and developed depression and anxiety issues as a result. Now, I'm back on track mentally, but my mobility has deteriorated. I don't have the strength like I used to and my muscles are very tight. I told my doctor and I'm going to start PT again and get afos. Has anyone else experienced this in there twenties?
