Question Constant runny nose-four year old

Hi;

My daughter who will be four soon started preschool about a month ago. Ever since she has a runny nose, it is a light yellowish discharge. Other than that she does not seem to be ill at all. This has been going on for a month, non-stop. It is probably a virus but she does not have symptoms of an ordinary cold. Any ideas what this could be? TIA.

Re: Constant runny nose-four year old

Hello,
She could have the beginnings or a sinus infection- but sounds more like allergies to me, has she had any allergies to dust or pollen in the past? Or if she is outside more at school than she was used to- that could be just a change of environment and she will adjust. Since it has been a month with no improvement, a quick trip to the Dr. may be a good thing.

Good Luck!
-M

Re: Constant runny nose-four year old

my guess is it is allergies which is irritating her sinuses (the yellow mucus is the infection) but she is going to need to be put on something for her allergies (if that is what she has) and then antibiotics to clear up the infection...
and dont hesitate to get her to a doctor for the antibiotics, infections (if left untreated) can cause lots of other issues!
