| Re: How can I be sure my children are getting enough fluoride?
Hello, I agree with the previous poster...A floride mouthwash and floride toothpaste should be enough. We don't have floride in our water either. I talked with my dentist about it, and he said that children really do not need floride once their teeth are already formed. He said the idea behind the floride supliments is for the floride to get into the teeth as they are forming. It won't get into the teeth that are already formed, so it's too late for my son (5 years old) to be taking floride supplements according to my dentist. You also have to watch out for giving your child too much floride as too much of a good thing can be bad...Too much floride can cause weak teeth, holes in teeth, and kidney damage. Floride is still a chemical/medicine, which should be used wisely.
