Lots & Lots of curls !!! - Children's Health Message Board

Does anyone know if the old wives tale is true that if I cut her hair, she'll lose her curls???

My husband won't let me trim the back cause he said the curls will disappear.
He has curly hair & it appears her hair will be similar, but what to do.
She looks beautiful with these Big curls in the back of her hair.

To cut or not to cut!?!?!?!

Actually you can cut the curls out. Temporarily. When I first trimmed my daughters beautiful curly hair the curls relaxed. But the second time I trimmed her hair they retuned. So of course her hair hasnt been trimmed since. So if you trim them out they may come back or she may not even lose them.
I know it really sucks good luck with the curls.

If her hair has length beyond the shoulder and is still curly, it likely wont matter a bit if you cut it. If only the back has curls, but the top is straight, they will either simply grow out or wont return if cut.

My oldest daughter had adorable curls in the back until her hair reached beyond her shoulders, then they disappeared. After we cut her hair (when she was 5) they did not return.

I have curly hair, my first two sons had a couple of curls when they were young. We were reluctant to have there hair cut because I didn't think the curls would stay. Alas, they didn't. My third son had curly hair (really curly). He is now 9 years old and it is still as curly.

If they are tight curls, or there is alot of them, I would be inclined to think that the curl would stay after being cut.
