Did my dd (12 y/o) start her period? - Children's Health Message Board

Last night around 11:00pm my dd comes to me and says "I think I got my period", she shows me her panties and there is a "pink" spot the size of quarter. What confuses me is that it was pink (it looked like watered down blood), not red or brown. Does anybody know about this? Anybody have a daughter who recently started her period? Anybody have any info?

When my daughter started hers about 2 months ago it was the normal color. I would watch things and if nothing further comes then I would think she may not have started her period. By now she should be up and dressed so I would think you might have a better idea if it is indeed her period or not. If it isn't her period then watch for further pink drainage as any unusual drainage needs to be checked out by the doc.

Hey there mommyof5-
My step daughter started her peiod at 10! She had to have x rays done of her thumb (which shows her overall growth related to her starting early period) anyways things were fine. And it was pink for her first few months....

Thanks guys,
I checked with her and she showed me the pantyliner and it was red this morning, but not a lot of blood. I let her stay home from school today. This afternoon she decided to put on a pad (even if it's uncomfortable to her). So I guess that's it, she has finally gotten her period. My little girl is becoming a young women.
