3 year old won't stop grinding her teeth in her sleep - Children's Health Message Board

My 3 year old has never had any dental problems. Her teeth came in perfectly, she loves to brush them, they're healthy and white. I think she's going to ruin her teeth because every single night she grinds her teeth. I don't know what to do to get her to stop besides wiggle her jaw open and tell her to quite "biting" her teeth (I don't think she understands "grind") Any suggestions? I don't know if putting something in her mouth like adult teeth grinders hve would work because I doubt she'd be able to sleep comfortable with something jammed in her mouth.

Take her to a pediatric dentist. They may be able to suggest something.

Have you checked for worms? I know this sounds gross, but one of the most obvious signs of worms is grinding teeth at night. Kids can get this from anything from dirt outside to raw cookie dough. I would check for that. It is very commen in kids, they just dont know it.

Have you experienced this? My daughter is a big teeth grinder and when she was three used to wiggle when sitting all the time. I never saw any worms but suspected because she appeared itchy and sometimes irritated and grinded her teeth in her sleep. I have talked to other moms but have never come across anyone who experienced this.

Are there visable signs of the worms? I treated her with over the counter med and she did stop all the wiggling. She was never officially dx. Just wondering if you can see them. I did talk to her ped. but was unclear on her answer. Thanks
