Blue penis

Maybe this is normal for a 3.5 month old. I'm not sure. His penis just seems a bit blue to me. He was circumcised a day after birth. He also has a bit of redness on the bottom of his testicles which may or may not be related. Unfortunately a Google search on the topic produces 99% unrelated information. Any suggestions?

Re: Blue penis

Is your baby very fair skinned? I noticed the same thing with my nephew but not my son. (They were born 1 day apart.) The difference between them is that my nephew is very fair skinned (white-blonde hair, blue eyes) like the Scandinavian side of my family, and my son is darker complected (dark brown hair and eyes) like the Portugese side of my family. The penis is full of blood vessels, so if your little guy is fair-skinned it may be more noticable. I'm definately not an expert though, so if you're really worried it might be worth a phone call to the pediatrician.

Re: Blue penis

I believe his penis is not getting enough oxygen.
I would call a doctor immediately.
My very fair-skinned, circumcised, Scandinavian nephew does not have any bluish tinge to his penis.

I am the mother of 2 boys, and a daycare teacher of infants for 12 years, and yes, it IS normal to have the head of the penis be blue, could happen frequently, or rarely, but it does happen to lots of boys!!!!!! So, I wouldnt worry.

Re: Blue penis

This is most definitely something you should really have evaluated by his ped before you can really say not to worry.blue skin anywhere on the body could indicate some sort of impeded blow flow to that particular area,or it could just be the veins are creating the illusion of the blueness themselves.but you NEED to know the real actual cause of that color.have you taken a really close look at the penis itself, espescially closer to the base of it?sometimes a persons longer hair can actually get somhow wrapped sround the childs penis and constrict the blood vessels, anyone with long hair who cares for your baby should really watch for this type of thing,it can and does happen.

since there could be many possible reasons for this,it really does just need a bit of evaluation by his ped to make certain that the reason for it is a benign one and not something else.i mean this IS the boys penis were talking about here, not something that you want to see damaged as it will most certainly cause him problems later on if it happens.better safe thansorry, espescially when it comes to our children.hopefully this is just natural for him and nothing else, but at least you will know for sure.good luck and please let us know what you find out,K?Marcia
