When did your children stop taking naps?

My 2 and half yr old DS is becoming very erractic with his naps. Some days he will nap and other days he refuses to nap. I have tried to tire him out before his nap but those days he wont nap at all. I still put him in his crib for some quite time but after sometime he starts crying. He usually wakes up around 8:00am and we out him down for bed at around 8:30am. The days he does not nap he gets very tired by 5:00pm and also very crabby. I wish he would continue with his naps for a few more mths. Is this just a phaze or is he done with naps? I would appreciate any kind of inputs from all of you!

Thanks in advance!

Re: When did your children stop taking naps?

Each child is different. Mine are 5 and 6 and they still nap during the day. Although there are some days they wont do it. They both take naps at school but next year they wont have that offered to them.

Re: When did your children stop taking naps?

My son quit at 1.5, daughters both quit about 2. My kids were all out of a crib by the time they were 2.

Although they didn't nap they did have quiet time and now that we homeschool we still have quiet time for reading even though they are 13, 10 and 9. The quiet time is for me not them.

I think it's really neat that you homeschool your kids!

To answer the original question, my son gave up naps around 2 1/2 years, but we also did "quiet" time after that too.
