13 year old with chest pain - Children's Health Message Board

My 13 yr old daughter has been complaining of chest pain, it doesnt hurt her to breathe, but when she inhales deeply it hurts down the centre of her chest. She hasnt had a cough or cold. Any ideas would be greatly apprieciated

could be something as simple as indigestion or heartburn? possibly an allergy to something? maybe pleurisy (pleurisy doesn't always have to have a cough with it)? anxiety, stress, asthma... these are all things that cause similar chest pain for me... how long has she been having pain? are there ANY other symptoms at all?

Sounds like she might need a trip to the pediatrician. It wouldn't hurt just to be sure.

hi how strange, i just posted a very similar question for myself on another board, i am 22 and for the last month i have had that pain in my chest on the right side though, i dont feel it when i breath normally it is only when i breath deeply, especially to sneeze or yawn. let me know if you find out the cause, this is a mystery to me, i am very healthy and a non smoker, i dont have asthma.....
