Re: what temperature is too high for a 5 year old?

well honestly i think any fever needs to be looked at seriously but you should be able to gauge by your child too.

my oldest dd is 10 and at 4 months she got her first fever and it was 104.4. i was so scared but over the years i have realized that she is just a high fever kid and will always start off high so i have to be really careful and watchful to get it down right away. the reason i am saying this is that even at the age of 10, she will get a high fever while my 7yo may get a 102 and it is still serious for her.

you also have to look at the symptoms going along with the fever or if the fever isn't going away. these are also very important and help to see what the problem may be.

what type of symptoms does your child have? : )

Thumbs up Re: what temperature is too high for a 5 year old?

thanks for your reply... I took him to dr yesterday and he has the croup so I know what it is, but his fever was 103.4 and I just was being a nervous mother. Finally the Tylenol brought it down last night to under 102, so I didn't worry as much. He's much better today. Thanks for your reply.
