baby blood shot eye

my 16 week old baby has got blood in the corner of right eye, it has only appeared today,
is this something i need the doctor to check?

That happened to my daughter last year. She just woke up like that one morning- it was so scary when I first saw her.

It's more than likely nothing at all. The eye tissue cannot readily absorb blood, so the slightest injury (coughing too hard, a slight bump, etc) will cause the blood to pool like that. It took a couple weeks for my daughter's eye to clear up completely.

But there is a very small chance it could be something else, so I would get it checked to be on the safe side.
