| Re: what to do for a ten month old with diarrhea
You got to change the diet. The BRAT diet is recommended for diarrhea. Bananas, Rice, Applesause, Toast. You can also give complex carbs...crackers, bread, potatoes, pasta (without sauce). Stay away from diary (no milk!) and meats and especially juice! Give Gatorade or water. Don't give too much sugary drinks. I made that mistake and gave mine kool-aide to avoid the juices and the diarrhea got worse...too much sugar. You can also get Probiotics from the health food area of the grocery store. It's a little capsule that you break open and pour into a drink or just mix into a spoonful of applesauce. It really helps put the good enzymes back into the intestinal tract that are usually stripped with diarrhea.
With my oldest, I had to put her on lactose free milk after a stomach bug. She's be fine and then I'd give her regular milk and she would get sick again. I then had to put her on lactose free for about two weeks until everything was back to normal.
Hope this helps.
