Re: Any idea what medicine is good for my daughers dry cough

Hi Kitkatmm,
I am sure I am too late with my response, but my son is a chronic night time cougher and his allergist and pulmonologist both said to give him benadryll at bed time. The night only cough is post nasal drip and the benadryll with dry the nasal passages. Hope this helps if not now, the next time this happens.

highlands makes a great homeopathic cough medicine for kids. it worked wonders for both my daughters.

another good remedy is hot honey and lemon juice mixed with water. it is soothing on a dry throat and can take away the urge to cough.

Re: Any idea what medicine is good for my daughter's dry cough

have you taken your child to the doctor? who gave your child the solmux was it a doctor that prescribed it? a dry cough can be a sign of many things, especially when your child is coughing more at night? these are things you need to look for:
does your child have a productive cough?
is it always a dry cough?
is your child wheezing?
did your child have a cold with the onset of the cough?
how long has your child had a cough for?
is your child's nose congested?
does your child make any wierd noises when he coughs?
does your child wake up or have trouble falling asleep due to the cough?
a cough in children is not so simple to diagnose, you cannot be told what to give your child without a proper diagnosis from doctors.
please get your child checked, and in the meantime try using a humidifier in the room every night. and please don't give your child cough syrups as they tend to do more harm than good. your child can have one of many many things, here are some examples:
croup, asthma, asthma in the cough variant form, post nasal drip, allergies, an everlasting cold,so you see not so easy for anyone to tell you what to give your child without a proper medical history, get him checked.
