Re-occurring fever, 2 1/2 yr old son in Uzbekistan

My son and his mother are in Uzbekistan visiting. He was having high fevers and was diagnosed with pneumonia in the right lung. Was given anti-biotic shots for seven days and seamed to be getting better. Fever came back and was diagnosed with red swollen tonsils and possible ear infection. Given an Amoxicillin for seven days and is still having a fever at night. He is sleeping well and eating pretty well but the fever keeps coming back.
I don't think he is being diagnosed properly. My son was taken to an International Clinic and they are a little bit more helpful but still can't find out what is causing it.
I know it is very vague but would any one have any ideas or suggestions on what might be going on with my son and these re-occurring fevers.

I am very worried and thinking of having them go to NY and meeting them there to see a Pediatrician. We don't have health insurance and the cost would be exuberant but I just don't know what else to do..

Thank you for any assistance and ideas..

It all depends on how long your child has been having fevers. It is possible for young children to have a pneumonia get treated get better then have another infection.
Like i said, it depends on how long. There are also many other things to consider. I don't know your child's history or if he has finished his antibiotics or if he still has any symptoms. I would also consider that the antibiotic isn't working. I hope your child is completely recovered by now.

Re: Re-occurring fever, 2 1/2 yr old son in Uzbekistan

Hello, this is my first time to be with HealthBoards. Although, you posted several yrs. ago, I hope my experience can help someone with the same problems.

My daughter was 2 yrs.old, when she got her 1st Fever. We went to every Dr. available and no diagnosis. She didn't have any symtoms: ate very well, no running nose, sorethroats, earaches, tonsels, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my daughter. Except for fevers that would get as high as 105 degrees and stay there for a week. It would go away and in a few mo./yr.. It would just come back for no apparent reason.

We took her to specialists that did every tests, checking every organ, the brain, etc., and nothing was found. All I had to do was keep hydrated, and alternate between Tylenol and Motrin. Start with Tylenol and after the recommended time give her Mortin. That was for my daughter not to get immune to one or the other.

We never found a diagnosis, and the fever's came for 8 yrs.. She is 11 yrs. old now, and the fever shows up once a year. Last about a week @ 102 - 105degrees, and I still alternate with Tyleno & Motrin, but with dosage age approriate. I hope that my experience can ease your mind alittle, but remember. I never gave up until the specialist did every test from head - toe. And I always watched for any systoms that were different.

She is a very healthy girl that has never had a earache, or antibiotics. And she eats very healthy: red meats, chicken, pork, every vegetable, fruit, all the way to eating assortments of sushi. Gifted & talented in school, active, just very intelligent. And never been diagnosis with ADHD, Autism, ect.

To all the parents with similiar symtoms: JUST BE PRESISTENT WITH THE DR.'S AND PATIENT WITH YOUR CHILD!!
