3 yr old with tummy ache and white stool

My 3 year old daughter has been having stomach issues for the last few days. It started with her complaining of a tummy ache and being very lethargic. The next day she had a few bouts of diarhea. Yesterday we thought she was getting over whatever bug she had. She was acting more normal but still a little lethargic. Today she was fine this morning but after her nap was extremely lethargic and complaining about her tummy hurting a lot. She's had a lot of gas but no bm's until tonight before bed and her stool was white.

I plan to call the pediatrician tomorrow. Any thoughts? Ideas?

One more concern I have is that she is adopted from China and we know for a fact that she was exposed to tainted formula but she has not had any trouble in 2 years.

Thank you for any input you can give.

Re: 3 yr old with tummy ache and white stool

If her stool was actually white, there could be cause for alarm.... depending on how you treated the diarrhea the day before. If she'd been given a large dose, or several small doses of something like Pepto or Kaopectate, it could've turned her stool pale or white.

You should definitely have her checked out as soon as possible, because white stools can indicate some fairly serious health problems.

Re: 3 yr old with tummy ache and white stool

We didn't give her any medication for the diarhea. We just tried to get her to drink a lot of water or pedialite. We saw the doctor today and think she's just got a virus. I sure hope she kicks it soon my poor girl! This has been a really long lived virus! Thanks!

Did the doctor say anything about the white stools? Are they still white?
