Red face Fever Gone 2 days - Returns (102 )

I read that if a childs fever goes away for at least 24 hours and then returns that you should make an appointment.

What is this a possible sign for that would require an appointment?

There has been only a slight cough for about 5 days now and the fever (102) came on about the 2nd night and was gone in the morning; or at least was no longer easily noticeable. Now, 2 days later, the fever(102) is back at night once again.

Any ideas?

And again, concerning this advice I have seen recommending an appointment for this pattern, what is the possibility that warrants the extra concern?

Thank You
