Question Persistent Fever for 3 weeks

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has had a fever for three weeks now.
She usually get it betweet 1-3am, we give her Motrin and it comes down.
After two weeks, they finally admitted her into the hospital thinking it was
Kawasaki Disease. They gave her two rounds of IVIG, did a lot of blood tests, chest xray, and echo - but everything came back negative. They did say it seems to be viral and that her platlette levels were high- indicative of the fact that she's fighting something. They even did a blood smear, and said the cells look fine.

They sent us home after a week, and now she's still having the fever, and we're giving her 3 81mg of aspirin every 6hrs (nightmare giving it to her)

We are going to see the Rheumatologist on Monday to see if they can figure out what's going on. During the day she seems normal, she eats and drinks, a bit irritable - but goes to the bathroom fine.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? We're going crazy with worry about
our daughter. Help!

Re: Persistent Fever for 3 weeks

They've done a lot of tests, I'm not sure if they've done anything to show what you've stated. I will ask the doctor on Monday.

Re: Persistent Fever for 3 weeks

Doctor doesn't believe it's PID. My concern right now is that we're giving her
3 81mg of aspirin every 6 hrs. It seems like a lot, and I'm worried about Reye's disease and/or damage to other organs. She seems to be peeing a lot, and the past two days her urine has a strong odor - almost like buttered popcorn.

I guess we'll have to wait to see what the Rheumatologist says. I keep thinking
UTI, but they've tested her urine twice. Should I ask them to test again?

She used to be ok during the day and irritable at night, but now she's cranky
all day, and just wants to be held, and cries a lot. I'm very worried! It will be 4 weeks on Tuesday that she's has a spiking fever (1 every 24 hrs.)

Her Infectious Disease doctor says it's either a virus of unknown origin, or
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis JRA.
