10 year old with blood in stool and high strep titer
My 10 year old has once again had maroon and bright red blood in his stool. This happened two years ago and it was cultured to have Strep A and he had a high strep titer. He had complained for over a 6 month period of joint pain and just not feeling well. He was sent to an infectious disease physician who said he was a carrier and put him on Clyndamycin. They did not feel there was going to be any need for concern. He was re cultured and found to be negative and all was assumed over. He did in fact, have a positive strep throat culture approximately one month later but then we thought all was well. Now, two years later, he has this episode and once again 720 strep titer. Has a round of antibiotics and titer goes to 757! He is anemic and has been put on Corvite. Various blood tests have been ran but nothing but the anemia have apparently shown up. The physician wants to keep giving antibiotics and I'm afraid his gut cannot take it. Has anyone experienced this or heard anything similar. Please help!
