Chicken Pox?

Hi there,

My 5 year old son started having severe diarrhea and vomiting this morning and he keeps scratching his upper thigh. He said it's very itchy and asked me if I could put something on to stop the itching. When I looked at his thigh there are a group of 4 little bumps, almost look like little bites. We had a notice sent home from school last week that chicken pox are going around school right now. Do these symptoms sound like chicken pox? Just wondering if I should keep him home tomorrow?
Also I have had the chicken pox myself and I was going to be hanging out with a pregnant friend of mine. Is there any danger of being around her even though I've already had them?

Thanks

Cathy

Re: Chicken Pox?

You'll soon know if he has chicken pox, as he'll soon be covered in itchy blisters if he has. Your friend can only catch chicken pox from someone who has chicken pox. It can be dangerous in pregnancy.

Re: Chicken Pox?

It could be chicken pox, you'll know for sure in a few hours.

To make sure your friend is totally safe, wash your hands and change your clothes before going to see her, just to make sure your son's virus isn't carried on your clothes or skin. But she's probably already immune.
