I am wondering if anyone is familiar with low testosterone (Hypogonadism)in children affecting their mental health.
My son (present age 11) was diagnosed as a toddler with PDD (Pervasive developmental delays)and diagnosed with anxiety, intermittent explosive disorder and possible bipolar when he was 8. now at 11 he is showing signs of not only all above mental challenges but great fatigue, no response to cold weather, constant irritability, depression, low concentration, diarrhea and he has a horrible time trying to sleep at night.
He is 11 years old 4'11" and weighs 129lbs. he shows no signs of pubic or facial hair no deepening of the voice and genitals are i believe on the small side, however he is only 11 as of sept. of 2012. He also has an incredible thirst going through cases of water bottles in a month. and will only eat dry foods.
He has been prescribed many anti anxiety meds to no real avail. He suffers with anxiety so bad that blood work to this point has been impossible. we are trying again to get blood work real soon ( with help from dad who will have to hold him down)
Anyhow I am looking for anyone who may have any insight on this topic my son lives in hell and it is so not fair. Doctors, specialist and school officials are stumped by him and I feel like I might be on to something here. have not shared my new found awhhha moment with his doctor yet but will be seeing her soon and plan to request t level testing for him.
