Pneumonia, Myositis or something else?

5 year old Child - Viral Myositis or something else

Hello, heres our full story:

1 month ago my 5 year old (normally healthy) son was admitted to hospital with fever, vomiting and dry cough. After chest X-ray and bloods was diagnosed bacterial pneumonia (he has been vaccinated against this 3 times in the UK in the normal vaccination program) which was completely covering his left lung. Few days on the ward receiving IV anitbiotics then discharged with 10 days double the normal dosage antibiotics (Augmentin Duo and Azithromycin). Reviewed back at the hospital 10 days later - doctors listened to chest - all clear.

5 days after this review appointment he started with a fever again, calf pain which would eventually be to the point he couldnt walk and a cough. Symptoms were mild to begin with however by another 4 days later, we were admitted to hospital again. Chest Xray looks to be clearing, and only a slight crackle with the stethescope. Lots of blood tests which gave unexpected results:

D-dimer test - Level of 430 so this is high (the normal max range is up to 300)
Extremely low white blood count (think they said leukocytes?) as well as a few others in this blood test which were low.
CK blood test - very high result
blood test - very high result

Because of the high D-dimer test we were sent for ultrsounds to rule out a DVT - the ultrasound was normal. We were told a positive D-dimer test can mean a range of other things too.

We were then given a range of other blood tests (these results are not back yet) to do with antibodies and immune system.

We are out of hospital now but back in this afternoon for another D-dimer, CK and LDH blood test.

We have been tolds it may be viral Myositis.

My son also has a coagulation factor XII deficiency - although we have been told this although extremely rare has little clinical significance.

Son is quite a bit better now in that he is able to walk again and only has mild discomfort in his calf muscles, no fever and only slight cough.

Has anyone got any thoughts on all of the above? Any suggestions for questions etc?

Many thanks in advance
