joint pain

my 11 year old daughter has been complaining of wrist pain in her writing hand. she says the pain starts by the wrist and goes up near the thumb. she is active in dance and is always practicing gymnastics too. she has been working out with push ups and pull ups and very light weight lifting once or twice a week too. she is also into jumping for cheerleading and recently said the front of her one knee was hurting (below the kneecap). she was fitted for orthotics for her arches the last few months. i will take her to dr. if the pain continues but has anyone experienced this? we are going to try the ice and rest first. any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
