| Sudden Chain Lymph Node infection in Jaw in 3 year old
My little one's left part of her jaw suddenly (and by suddenly, I am not exaggerating--within an hour or two) swelled up and hardened.
I thought I was going to have a panic attack when I saw it--about the size of a golf ball.
I took her to pediatrics and they ran blood tests (not sure what besides a CBC) and said they came back fine.
They also did an ultrasound. I was told that some were dense and some of the nodes were enlarged but not dense.
She is on antibiotics, now, with a followup in 2 weeks.
I'm so worried. Does anyone know what could have caused this?
I took her to the doctor around New Year's, as well, because she had a sore throat, tummy ache, and fever over 102, and they tested her for strep, but the test came back negative. The funny thing is, though, a few days later, I tested positive, myself for strep. Could it possibly have been strep with a negative test?
They did not treat it with antibiotics and had said it had to be viral. Maybe it wasn't viral but also not strep and should have had antibiotics? Honestly, I'm afraid.
