dx w/ cfs & fibro now doc thinks narcolepsy...

hello,
Well I am 26 female with 2 children. About two weeks ago my doc said that I have CFS & Fibro. He did a bunch of blood work to rule out thyroid, diabete, and anemia...all normal.
Well I went back to the doc today and have lost more weight again. Any the shaking in my head has turned into full blown tics. He said that he makes any dx of cfs & fibro he would like to have a sleep study done to rule out any sleep problems but namley Narcolepsy...have any of you had sleep studies done? Did they come back normal?
My doc said that a person with Narcolepcy wouldn't even know that they had it. The number one symptom of it is daytime sleepiness. They sleep attacks are second and can last seconds to hours. The shorter the sleep period the more undetected you are to notice.
I am going to look into this. Any suggestions for me or thoughts?
If all tests come back normal he would like to start ruling out neuro. disorders.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, any comments would be great.

PS. I do have alot of other symptoms besides what I listed...I just wanted to keep it short.

Re: dx w/ cfs & fibro now doc thinks narcolepsy...

I believe having a sleep disorder ruled out is a great idea. I just want to make the point that most if not all CFS sufferers complain of sleep abnormalities. While a sleep disturbance definitely complicates CFS, it does not cause it and correcting the sleep disturbance won't cure you of CFS.

But the proof is in the pudding as they say...if you are diagnosed with Narcolepsy and that is your only problem, then being treated for it should allow you to feel completely normal again including resolution of all your other symptoms as well...if you don't, then your doctor would probably have no choice but to just chalk it up as another symptom of CFS.
