possible cfs - Chronic Fatigue Message Board

Hi all, nice to see the new board in use. I hope you can all help me. I have been off work for 4 and a half months now. Since about June I have felt v. tired. I had some slight illnesses in the summer, then at the end of August I had an attack of virtigo like symptoms. These have not quite gone yet.
It is the tiredness that has been constant, and got worse till I cannot get through a couple of hours of "being around the house" without having to sit or lie down.
I have also had rocking, in time to my heartbeat, which can get quite dramatic at times. I have been on Beta blockers for this, and have now been taken off them. My heart races, and I have chest pains and tightness when it does.
I also suffer from a foggy feeling, lack of concentration, and a slight recurring sore throat.
I have had many other symptoms, most of which come and go.
Could I have cfs, I have been refferred to the local hospital for tests, but have not gone yet. I have been told that it could also be thyroid related, can it, i have had blood tests which all come out normal.
HELP IF U CAN!

Micky,
Thanks for your prompt reply. It is never good to hear of others having the same problems, but you will know what I mean when I say it helps. I am now on a course of strong decongestants for the spaced out feelings, and dizziness. It has helped a bit, but if I am tired I begin to get "detached" again. I still have not heard about when I go to the hospital, is it possible for a GP to do the Epstein Bar blood test?
I too had a very difficult 6 - 8 months, going through an adoption process, a VERY stressful time at work, and organising a large summer kids playscheme among other things. I suppose this could have brought it on. I am so grateful to you for your help, I will try to get hold of the book you mentioned, I don't suppose you know who published it?

Hello all.
Has anyone considered allergies and/or sinusitis? Also, depression can have these symptoms as well. I suffer from allergies and sinusitis and i am always tired. From the moment I wake up till I go to bed. My energy level is low and can maybe get 1/2 thru the day until I want to take a nap.
I have written about my experiences with the foggy headed feelings in the "Allergies" forum and also in the "Inner Ear Disorder" forum. You may want to take a look. These are very troubling sensations and provoke anxiety. I had sinus surgery back in Oct.'00 and have since been left feeling this way. I do have sinus tissue swelling yet so I am figuring that it must be that and allergies.
As for blood testing for EBV/CFS...as far as I know there is no reliable test for this. My medical doctor told me a few years ago that almost everyone comes up positive for the virus but doesn't have any symptoms.

I had an episode of a horrible virus in 1997 which consisted of high fever, ulcers, sore throat, disorientation, sunburn like rash, pain in joints and muscles, etc. I went to the er the doc the rhuem back to the doc another rhuem 3 more docs etc and it is now three years and I was told that the ebv went into second stage cfs and fms...hmmmm now all of a sudden new doc wants endocrine work up with thyroid, sugar, and ms .......
and a rhum workup for the third time.....
