I am on antidepressants, but for anxiety. I have been for 3 years (I am 19 and was 16 then). I am tired all the time and no matter how many times we change the medicine or dose, I am tired. Unclear whether its related to the medication or something else (have had extensive blood testing for "something else".) Its not as severe as most people suffering from CFS, I realize, but intrudes bc I need a lot of sleep to feel rested, get tired in the middle of the day etc. any advice? Foods or supplements? Prescriptions? Thanks -Mer
Welcome! Are there other symptoms including the extreme tiredness? Is it more a fatigue feeling, do you also feel the fatigue throughout your body? Have you ever said to yourself, "I feel empty, like I have nothing left to give?" Do you feel like you have to push yourself beyond what energy you have?
I'm having a brain fart (excuse the expression), what is bc? I know when you say it it'll make sense to me!
If you have brain fog, there is a supplement to start with called Anada ANADH you place it under your tongue. You can take them throughout the day, follow the directions. There is also Anada NADH, you can start taking as well, this one you take 1/2 before breakfast. They both work really good! I have been using NADH for the last year. If you can't find it at your local health food store, it can be ordered online.
You can also eat fruits and vegetables that produce energy. Examples are dark green and leafy vegetables. I know there are other ones...I'm a bit tired this afternoon and can't remember...someone, help out here, please...
The antidepressant I'm in is Cymbalta its has helped, tho, I'm also taking other meds, supplements and antibiotics in my regime... which have all helped in my combat against CFS/FMS.
hey thanks so much for your reply and good suggestions! Bc was just supposed to mean because. what kind of antidepressant is cymbalta? Part of my problem is that I sometimes take Klonopin bc I have anxiety, but that makes me sleepy and then the whole cycle starts over. I am in college and needing so much sleep is a real interference...I dont want to have to "choose" between anxiety and fatigue. anyone out there know a way to stay awake without feeling revved up/tense? i get anxious, take anxiety meds, then drink caffeine bc I am tired. a horrible cycle, I realize, but so far thats the best way I know to be both awake and relatively calm. I have seen a lot of very good doctors who cant quite find the balance either...

Mer, when I initially became sick I experienced the feeling of 'fight or flight,' like it didn't take much for the adrenaline rush to activate, it also seemed like the gate or valve was stuck open.
Is that what you feel and are attributing that to anxiety?
My doctor, the specialist, tested my hormone levels, along with a CBC and CMC, 34 vials of blood during my first visit there. He addresses all of the things that are not correct in the findings, even if they're still within the range, but very low or very high. I have been on treatment for almost a year with natural hormones, supplements and some prescriptions. Since the treatment started there have been an increasing number of better days.
Oh, I just remembered another symptom with the adrenal dysfunction, hyper-sensitivity...that really created weird sensations, noises amplified 100 X's, sensitivity to chemicals, not able to process things when the noise is amplfied. I purchased some earplugs for the really bad days, a true blessing. If I stay away from work and chemicals, I do much better. Think I'll try wearing a mask, if I need to use any house hold cleaners.
Cymbalta is an SSNRI-Selective Serotonin Norenephrine Reuptake Inhibitor, it helps what is left of the serotonin and norenephrine levels in your brain bounce off each other. Helping to increase your energy and decrease the pain level.
I also now take supplements that help build up these levels naturally, I have changed my diet (not to lose weight) but there are many wholesome foods that help, too.
I have found it to be helpful in my regime against CFS & FMS.
Thank you for letting me know what bc ment, totally makes sense to me, now. let's keep in touch, uvm
