Hello everyone. I was dx. with mono at age 21. I am now 34. I have been feeling "bad" for about 2 months, extreme fatigue, lost 20 lbs, etc...I told my doctor that the only time I remembered feeling this bad was when I had mono. He did some labs and these were the results:

EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG=143 (positive=>120)

EBV Ab VCA, IgG=2360 (positive =>120)

EBV Nublear Antigen Ab, IgG=755 (positive = >120)

CMV Ab, IgG (Cytomeglaovirus) =26.2 (positive = > 1)

MonoSpot=negative

Anyone know what these values mean?

Did your doctor put you on any antivirals?

I am not good at test results...but doesn't it say you are positive for Epstein barr virus and Cytomeglovirus?? These are two of the things I have...and virus's can be deadly. I have been on Valtrex for about 7 or 8 months and now on Valcyte for the CMV.

You might need to find a doctor that deals in Virus's ...

I had a severe case of mono 10 years ago and have been recently diagnosed with CFS. the doc diagnosed me with CFS after doing blood tests on me for the EBV. Mono is like the chicken-pox in that once you have it the antibodies will always be in your system. so the only thing the positive tests show is that you have had the EBV at one time. its the levels that you have to look at. The EBV antigens dont really mean too much other than that you have EBV in your system. its the (EBV Ab VCA, IgG=2360 (positive =>120)) that could mean something. when i was diagnosed with CFS he said that it was because normal levels for people that have had te EBV (mono) are around 200. mine were 4450. and that is how i was diagnosed with CFS. please dont think that because your EBV Ab levels are high that you have CFS but its something to look into with the doc. It would explain the tiredness and fatigue.
