I'm hoping someone here may have ideas about the frequent dizziness I've been experiencing since February. Its been there for a few hours most days since. Like many CFS sufferers my condition had become partially better after a few years to the point where I had some not bad quality of life. The dizziness has come along & spoiled that level as its reduced again my walking, standing, swimming etc. I even feel a little dizzy lying down quite often. Doc has referred me to an ENT specialist in 3 weeks time. I also have strange sensations now in my head, not a headache but feeling of squeezing or pressure round my brain.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks, Paul
Could your squeezing and pressure around your brain be muscle spasm related or tingling/numbness related? I would think they would have referred you to a neurologist instead of an ENT doctor, do you have sinus or ear infection issues? The dizziness and brain pressure doesn't sound like a good combo, though there is the possibility it could be harmless. I get dizzy and lightheaded sometimes and get brain spasms once in awhile, it's harmless. Wonder why your doctor didn't order an MRI to see? Is your blood pressure stable?
I would have your cortisol levels checked. I have had CFS for 16 years and like you had returned to a reasonable level of life, then suddenly started going downhill. Pressure in head, dizziness, endless fatigue, pain in abdomen, etc, etc. It turns out I have Addison's disease. This is rare, so unlikely for you, but you could have mild adrenal insufficiency that would be helped immensely by taking a small amount of hydrocortisone daily (maybe as little as 2.5mg). Get your doctor to schedule a synacthen or ACTH test for you.
