| Fatugue and other symptoms
Hi,
I am posting regarding my 16-year-old daughter. In 2010, we discovered that she was having episodes of VT. She had an electrophysiology study that showed that the arrhythmia originated in the right ventricular outflow tract and the electrophysiologist told us that her condition was not life-threatening. She is experiencing many other symptoms and I feel that they may somehow be related, as many of them came on at approximately the same time. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them...She has seen tons of doctors and none of them seem to be interested in anything more than their specialty (cardiology, rheumatic, etc) I'm having a terrible time finding a good doc in San Diego to put it all together. The only thing that I can find online that matches her symptoms is POTS. No one seems to want to consider that as an option, though. Lyme disease matches too, but she tests negative.
She has had to drop classes and was even home-schooled for 6 weeks. She's basically a straight A student that can no longer function because she feels sick and exhausted all of the time.
She was put on Zoloft and that has helped a bit, but I don't think that her symptoms are caused by depression. Depression may certainly be exacerbating the problems, though.
Here are her symptoms:
Painful joints- hips are most severe
Nausea
Migraines and a constant underlying headache
Shaking hands
Muscle twitches
Fatigue (severe on many days)
Fever off and on (only 99-100)
Positive ANA
Difficulty falling asleep
Ringing in ears
Feeling of being removed (periodically) which is accompanied by a strange smell
Vaso vagal syncope (sometimes, but not recently)
Vision blacks out when she stands from sitting or supine positions
Cold hands and feet
Cough (one cough now and then-this is not related to illness)
Major decrease in attention span
Depression
Thanks for your help!
Shelley
