I just wanted an opinion as I have been looking for a diagnosis for about 3 to 4 years. My main symptom has been shortness breath with exertion. It has been very slowly progressive. On initial testing, the doctor thought I had pulmonary hypertension as I had an elevated pulmonary pressure of 45. I had two right heart catheterizations but they were normal. I have been tested for heart disease, asthma, mental health, you name it and I have had it done. I have seen two heart specialists, two pulmonologists, a rheumatologist as well as a psychologist and a psychiatrist. Everything is normal. I had some decrease in the pulmonary function tests but still within normal limits. At this point, I am very short of breath on exertion which gets worse the more I do, my chest feels congested the more I do, I have a dry cough. I can't say that I have a lot of fatigue but by the end of the work week I feel "sick", like I am getting a cold. I don't have a fever, sore throat or enlarged lymph nodes, just this feeling like a cold is coming on. I feel refreshed in the morning so rest does help, in fact it is the only thing that helps. I don't have any cognitive issues either.
My husband thinks I am just trying to find a diagnosis and want this "to fit" when it really doesn't. But, from what I have read, everyone has different symptoms and it just depends on where you fall on the "spectrum" of symptoms. To me, nothing else fits but this, even though I know I don't have some of the classic symptoms. I do seem to have the post exertional malaise though. What do you all think?
