Still confused as to what is going on with me! Replies wanted!!

So I posted a few weeks ago about what I have been experience so here goes some back story and updates!

First off I would like to say that I am a 31 year old male that is about 40 pounds over-weight.

Back in June, I started to experience these dull headaches on a daily basis. Now my work consisted at being in front of a computer, then when I came home from work I would be on the computer again. My posture for years at my desk is horrible. So I got laid-off from my back in June and took the time to see what was going on with me. I start to get upper and lower back pains so I decided to go to the chiropractor. He informed me that I am an accident waiting to happen and my upper and lower back were all full of knots which would explain the headaches, and tingling in the arms and legs. For three months, I would consistently go to the chiropractor and I stared to feel better.

During those months, I began to eat worse than I normally would and the stress was beginning to get to me due to my job search and it's uncertainty. So I finally got a job that I started back in October and I slowly noticed that my symptoms began to reappear. Not only were there headaches but there were symmetrical pains/bruised feeling in my upper arms, hands/fingers, upper legs, and feet/toes.

I took it upon myself to go to my primary and a few days prior to my appointment I got myself so worked up that I had a full on panic attack. I guess between the stress of trying to get back on track, my weight and my overall body being constantly drained...it got the best of me. So I went to the Dr and he noted that my weight and stress are a factor but wanted to do some blood-work. He also mentioned that fibromyalgia could also be what is going on but wanted to wait for the lab-results.

The tests came back and I was informed that everything came back normal but it showed that the Epstein Barr Virus was once active in my body and my anti-bodies are currently high. It was also mentioned that I could have chronic fatigue syndrome, which a lot of my symptoms happen to match. The Dr's suggestion was to eat better, decrease stress, and let this run it's course.

So some days are good, some are worse. I still feel that pain/bruised feeling in my hands and feet on some days and I still feel those dull headaches. I know some of them are also sinus related as they are right above and below my eyes.

I am just tired of feeling this way and would like someone's honest feedback and advice. So far I'm just trying to exercise more and eat a lot better. Is that the right track that I am on?

I have a little 2 1/2 daughter and just wanted to be as healthy as possible for her and my family.

Your advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Still confused as to what is going on with me! Replies wanted!!

One thing in our post jumped out at me: the part about wanting to get well for your daughter. I can completely relate. I'm a 35 y/o male, and my first child (a girl) was born recently. My strongest motivation for getting well is for her. I want her to know the "me" from before I got sick.

To answer your question of whether you're on the right track, I don't know for sure, but I think changing your diet was critical. My doctor recommended that too, along with some other things. I posted about it in a different thread right after yours. The post is titled "Big Day" if you're interested.

Good luck!

Re: Still confused as to what is going on with me! Replies wanted!!

Hello,
I'm visiting from the Fibromyalgia board.
There are many things that mimic Fibromyalgia... MS, Lupis, Lyme, ect. It can also be something as simple as low vitamin D.
I had probs since I was 18. Well, I was sick allot before that. But the exhaustion was the worst. My body felt heavy, sore & tired. I went from dr to dr. I researched & found things to be tested for, always negative. I don't think they believed me. I look perfectly healthy.
It wasn't till the pain really set in in when i was 29 that I was finally diagnosed with CFS & FM. I also have derealization, among other things, which has been just as devistating.
The mistake I made all those years... Going to ordinary Drs. I needed a specialist. I finally did find a dr that took me serious... The 2nd rime I seen her. I think it helped I brought my mom to help back me up so the de took me serious. Anyhow, you need to see a Rhumetologist. They will run all tests needed. You will find out what's wrong. I Would not see a neurologist unless you have ms or something like that...
I'm now 31. I've tried going mled free but all I could do was lay on the couch till noon then finally taking pain meds.
When it was jut CFS I could push myself constantly. I don't give up easy. But not when I over do it I'm in allot of pain & become so sick...
We adapt easy... Get so used to having a headache you don't think about it. But you have to push Drs, this is your life! you need to see a Rhumetologist & get the help you need... I truly hope it's something simple & easily fixed... Wishing you the best!

Thank you both for the responses. I'm taking it that I'm not alone in this and that there are other people out there feeling like this? It just gets you down sometimes. Today for example, I woke up with a headache again and I just feel so off. I try that I am and I will hang in there.

Re: Still confused as to what is going on with me! Replies wanted!!

No you are not alone!
I'm always tired, sore & hurt. I haven't felt alive or had even a burst of energy since 1998... It sux... I was depressed allot over the years because I did feel alone. I couldn't really talk to anybody because I felt like I was crazy. Drs always made me depressed because they either didn't listen to me or looked at me like I was nuts. I fought sinus infections, uti's, fractured fingers ect without going to the dr. I even broke the 2 big bones in my wrist & shattered one in middle & didn't go to a dr till the next day. I hurt my back & could barely walk, didn't see a dr for 2 weeks... Yes I was stupid. Yet I went in every few months wanting to know what was wrong with me & wanting more tests done, and they looked at me like I was a hypochondriac.
I was so used to feeling like crap. I remember thinking that after having these probs for so long, it could get worst & then it did... My old back injury hurt more. 2 back Drs were no help. Then I had a headache atleast 5 days a week. I was so used to feeling like crap & having headaches, i didn't even think about it. I guess I was more focused on the fatigue. I always pushed myself through the fatigue. Got up in the morning & didn't stop till evening cause I kne if I sat down. I wouldn't get up. Anyhow, my neck, shoulders & upper back starting to hurt really bad for no reason. Neither of my back Drs could tell me why. They said I shouldn't have that problems so looked at me like I was nuts. That's when I finally seen the Rhumetologist & diagnosed.
I remember crying when the dr told me I needed to rest & pace myself. With a farm & 4 kids, didn't know how I'd do that.
Well, you mentioned headaches.... After getting rest for a couple days, I quit getting the headaches! Now I only get it when I've over done it. If I rest sometimes it goes away & doesn't get worst. However, most if the time I have over done it way to much & gets worst. Its a flare... I'll get so sick & dehydrated... Most of the time my body hurts so bad I'm in agonizing pain & extremely uncomfortable. Funny thing is, I don't lose color & look perfectly normal. My husband says he wouldn't know I was that bad if he wasn't around me during that time cause I look so normal.
Anyways, yes I talk to much. But after 11 yrs of not knowing what was wrong with me & only to getting worst... I like to help others in the same situation. You remind me alittle of myself. Your problems are very similar. I hope that you'll read my story & it'll help you get the help you need!
I am sorry it's so long...

Re: Still confused as to what is going on with me! Replies wanted!!

Please don't apologize for talking to much or being too long. I thank you much for your help it makes me feel better knowing that I'm not alone. I doubt that stress and siting in front of a computer for 10 hours a day hasn't contributed to what I'm feeling. Like you, my Dr thinks I'm nuts as well. He was my fathers Dr as well and my father passed away from prostate cancer years ago so he thinks that I just paranoid. I think I have gotten in a cycle in life and especially with my lay off, I just haven't taken care of myself. The chiropractor that I go to is the only one I feel that takes me seriously. He says that I need to excerise and that lower the stress as well. Like you, I have a family and its hard to even get a moment to relax. I wake up, I'm tired.....I go to Ned I'm tired. I have headaches, a constant "off" feeling, and I'm sore all the time. It gets depressing for sure and it has caused me to have panic attacks.

I'm glad I have a friend in this and someone to talk to!!
