Please Help Me! I'm Frustrated With My Health Problem!

Help me everyone. I'm confused with the symptoms that I have. I feel the symptoms like are drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue. It has been almost four months I suffered from these symptoms. I've done tests: CBC (normal), Glucose (normal), Cholesterol (normal), blood pressure (normal). I also had a chance to test pupils to check if there is a possibility if I have adrenal fatigue. But the result is normal, my pupils shrink and stay shrink. I have normal sleep schedule. 6-8 hours a day, and sleep is not cut off in the midnight. I don't snoring. I even sleepy all day but can't nap. And for this reason it seems I do not have a sleep disorder. Which I did not a thyroid test until now. And also there is a possibility I have vitamin D deficiency that maybe causing these symptoms. In your opinion, what is the disorder or illness could I have? Thank you very much!

Re: Please Help Me! I'm Frustrated With My Health Problem!

Hi,

I know that it's very frustrating to know that somethings wrong but you just can't put a finger on it.

When my fatigue began I had never heard of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My primary doctor (who is very good) began testing me for everything under the sun that could cause my fatigue. After a little over a year, he concluded that it is Chronic Fatigue.

In the beginning I asked every doctor I seen. He sent me to several specialists and I asked every one of them. One night on an urgent care visit for my swelling knees and feet I told the ER doctor about my fatigue problems. He was the first one who told me that it was probably Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. That was about 4 months in. I was amazed. I went home and googled everything about CFS and I found that I had many of the symptoms. Funny thing is, I thought that maybe my primary doctor didn't even know what CFS was because he'd never indicated that possibility. Silly me, when I brought it up to him, he knew all about it. Naturally. (Oh yee of little faith.)

He'd said he was trying to find and eliminate every possible thing before making that call.

My point is; there are so many things that it could be. Likely there is no one in this forum who can tell you with any certainty what it is that is afflicting you. It could be as simple as a Vitamin B 12 infusion to hormone problems or so many other things.

The best thing you can do is make all your doctors appointments and get tested.

Good luck to you. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that you are not alone. There is an answer, eventually.

symptoms, pain in the lymph
nodes, sore throat, etc that I do
not have. Hopefully there is a

I would certainly be checking out the possibility of low thyroid, autoimmune disorders, and sleep apnea. One can have sleep apnea without snoring, and without knowing it. It has to be tested for with a sleep study or at least a screening nightime oxygen saturation test to see if oxygen dips down, and if so, followed by a sleep study. There is also a condition called narcolepsy, that makes people fall asleep too fast and too easily, even while talking, driving or working. A sleep study will pick that up as well.

Looks like isn't sleep apnea.
Although not snoring, but almost
all sleep apnea patients always
wake up with a headache (sign
of brain less O2), very dry mouth
and throat, and often woke up
in the middle of the night
accompanied panting breath. If
hypothyroidism seems more
reasonable.

By The Way...

What does your doctor say?

Did you know that high stress can cause fatigue? And most of us never realize that it's the culprit. Mayo Clinic has a short article on this, please read this article, maybe it will help:

(if you can't click the link, you may have to copy and paste that URL address.)

Re: Please Help Me! I'm Frustrated With My Health Problem!

If you have previously been told by your physician that you may have ME/CFS then these symptoms suggest MCS which is a sub symptom set of ME/CFS. We have many in our clinic with MCS and these symptoms suggest that. However if you do not have ME/CFS then there are many possibilities.

Please note these symptoms you mention are NOT definitive for ME/CFS:

" flu-like symptoms, pain in the lymph nodes, sore throat, etc that I do
not have"

Some people in the early stages of ME/CFS can get these symtptoms but not all by any means.

The most definitve symptoms are:
PEM Post exertional malaise, memory loss, thinking problems, generalized aches/pains

There are many other symptoms but these are most definitive.

No one can diagnose ME/CFS because there is no clinically accepted test. If you were in a research program they could with some surity say you have ME/CFS on the basis of a variety of immune markers.

Re: Please Help Me! I'm Frustrated With My Health Problem!

Okay. The point of the common
symptoms of CFS / ME is chronic
pain, brain fog, and also feeling
like the flu. And I do not have all
three. My most disturbing
symptom is drowsiness. Both
dizziness. Any suggestions?

Re: Please Help Me! I'm Frustrated With My Health Problem!

Hi! I was diagnosed with CFS also. I agree that it's the most frustrating thing. You know that something is wrong, but there's no answers or labwork to figure out what to do about it. From my experience, I would suggest a few things that you might try.

First, I felt a lot better taking Vitamin D supplements. You might ask your doctor to find out how low you are before you start, though. He can draw a vitamin D level. My rheumatologist told me to take 5,000 units/day for two weeks, then down to 3,000 U/day. My doctor works with me on this one and repeats Vit D levels to make sure I'm not going into the toxic range. But, so far, 3,000/u a day is keeping me in the normal range. Regular Vit D, like from most stores, didn't move my Vitamin D level at all, zip, nothing. I suspect that there isn't as much Vit D in them as what's on the label. There are some higher-end vitamin supplements that actually work, according to labwork. So, keep that in mind when choosing which one to take. For many people, the "dry" formulation works better than the oil based kind. Vitamin D made a significant difference in how I feel.

Another thing I'd suggest is ask the doctor to do a Western Blot and/or ELISA or PCR, and blood smear or culture. He will resist these tests. Especially if you are relying on insurance to pay for them. But, it's a matter of how he fills out the paperwork/reason he is ordering them that will cause insurance to pay for these tests. There are many little things, like mycoplasms, that can hide from your immune system that some of these tests may show. A doctor will tell you that they don't show much most of the time . . . but they do show something often enough to make the tests worth doing.

Another thing that really helped me was a gluten-free diet. There's enough on the internet about gluten-free diets that I won't get into the specifics here. But, it's something else you can try that may give you good results and make you feel a little better. Yes, this can show up relatively suddenly. They genetically modify these plants regularly so they can be sprayed with herbicide and not kill the plants, then the weeds become resistant to the herbicide, so they have to modify the grain seeds again. The new variation of the genetically modified wheat may be something that you can't tolerate when you were able to tolerate last year's wheat crop. Be very meticulous and eliminate all gluten containing products for 2 weeks. If you feel better, then stay on the diet. If you have avoided ALL gluten, but hasn't helped, then this won't help you. For me, after 3 days on a gluten free diet, I felt better, and haven't looked back.

Don't give up. Don't let it get you down. Of course you'll feel frustrated and depressed at times. But, don't stay in that place. Keep searching for answers and have faith in whatever god you worship that he/she/it will guide you to the answers that are right for you.

Bless you.
