Hi, for a year now I have been suffering from constant, chronic pain on the entire left side of my body. It all started with a fainting. The pain started in my left arm as a dull ache in my bicep area, gradually worsening to constant pain all the way to my fingers. Then my left thigh started the same way. Now today it is all through my entire left side. I sometimes have headaches on the left side of my head. My left jaw will hurt. I have had tingling and numbness. It hurts to be touched the wrong way. Such as a loving pat on the leg or arm from my husband. It can bring me to tears for the pain of being touched wrong.
I have been to 3 neurologists, one rhuemotologist, had several MRI's and MRA's. Have been tested for Lupus, have had nerve testing.... the list of tests go on and on. But all come back normal and I am feeling quite less than normal.
I am at my wits end. I can't stop hurting. I have seen some posts here with similar symptoms. But has anyone found an answer? That is all I am really searching for......an answer. I want the pain and discomfort to stop. No meds have helped. They simply cover up the pain. It never goes away. I am so restless with discomfort. I can't sit, stand, walk for long periods. It is impossible to accuratly discribe what I am feeling.
Please, if anyone knows anything, let me know. I am desperate for relief.
Leray, How terrable. I have never heard of anything like that but I want you to know I am hoping you get some answers. It almost sounds like it would involve the nerves, you know? I feel for you, not knowing what is wrong is hard to cope with. Someone, somewhere must know whats going on I will keep you in my prayers. God bless, Sammy
Hi there LaRay!
I read your post and it almost had me in tears in my eyes! I remmember when I felt just like you are feeling and I had no nswers for what my cause of pain was....
That is so hard to deal with ...."the Unknown"
I really as sorry that your feeling so poorly but I do hope that you will stick around and keep talking with the people on this board...
We all have been through so many things and treatments and testing for various types of illnesses and injuries...
No matter if we have the same injuries or not...the feelings and emotions that come along with the chronic pain seem to be about the same for everyone.
Hope your day is good!
I will send out some ggod vibes for you and be thininking of you.....
Please don't cry. I do enough of that myself. I do appreciate what you said. I did see my nuerologist yesterday and he told me he has no clue what is wrong. So he has decided to send me to a pain specialist to try to control the pain somehow. I am interested to see what will happen there. Thanks for your good vibes. I need all those I can get! I simply go day by day, what else can we do?
Have a super day.
LaRay - my heart goes out to you! Although my pain is different than yours, I have had a similar year. I posted a little while ago about what to do when you don't know the cause of your pain. My doctor says "we don't have tests for everything." I, too, have been at the point that I don't even care what it is anymore, I just want some relief. I have also found it very hard to describe my pain.
Luckily, a new dose of long-acting medication has been providing some moderate relief for me over the past couple of weeks. You may have to increase the dosage on your medications. Some people need pretty high doses. When I first started taking meds, they didn't do a thing. Now that I have increased steadily, though, it seems to be helping some. I'll admit I am surprised by how much it is helping because I had no relief from meds earlier in the year.
Medication isn't the only answer, but sometimes it is the last thing to rely on. I also use a TENS units which helps for a while.
Have you been to a pain management specialist? If you are from a metro area, you may be able to have some options to find one that helps you.
there are 2 things I want to say. the first is that my muscles on the left side of my body stay sore and painful. I am aware that it is my muscles because I have seen a acupuncturist and chiropractor and they both help ALOT. Ther also gave me many exercises (stretches) to do and sorryt o say that "if I do them" I feel alot better. I am certain that I am not anywhere as bad as you are but my skin will be sore to touch, headaches, ear/jaw pain, neck, butt, you name it all on the left side. The other thing I want to tell you is that so many people clench/grind their teeth which can effect anything from the upper back to the top of your head. I wouldl explore this if you have not allready. Hopefully you have not and it helps. It helps me!!!!!!!!!!!

Reason: read the rules.
No, I have not been tested for RSD, that I know of. How would I be tested for it? By blood work? Or is there some sort of different test for it? I will be researching RSD now for myself to see what I find. Thank you for the idea.
I have been a tooth grinder for many, many years. Mostly in my sleep. I have had mouth guards for it. But like I said I have done it for lots of years. The pain in my left side only started about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. So, not sure about that.....
I am suffering from the same symptoms. Pain on the entire body on the left side.It started with anxiety attacks. Just been for ECG, Sauna and MRI.....ect. Taking medication from different doctors but NO HELP.Kindly advise if there is any progress in your diagnoses.I pray that you are getting some relief from the pain..
It sounds like soomething to do with the brain sending signals, have you had the arterys checked in your spine and head? Could it be related to stroke? Good Luck and God bless and please let us know
