Severe cold in August???

A few days ago my 6 month old got the sniffles and a runny nose but got better soon. He was pretty cranky during this time. Now, 3 days later I have the worst sneezing and runny nose and dry scratchy throat. i feel terrible. Isn't it really early to get colds? I heard drinking lemon tea works should I try that?

Colds are viruses and we get them during any time of the year. They're spread by contact.

Firstly, are you sure it's a cold and not allergies?

Lemon tea helps the symptoms, you might want to increase vitamin C, suck on zinc losenges and possibly try some over the counter meds (according to your symptoms) that don't cause drowsiness. Allegra is an antihistamine and doesn't cause drowsiness. If it's allergies, it would help...if it's not allergies, it can help stop the sniffles and runny nose.

Wash your hands often, especially after blowing your nose and definitely before you handle your baby or do anything for him/her.

I hope you improve soon. A cold at ANY time of the year is the pits.

Nope it isn't allergies. I had bad allergies when I visited Maryland a couple weeks ago and it was nothing compared to this. I feel so crappy and all I wanna do is sleep. I tried taking tylenol flu and it didn't really help too much and neither did benadryl. This morning I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach. Yesterday I had chills all day so I wonder if it is the flu. I hope my son doesn't get it but it is hard cuz I have to pick him up all the time, feed him, ect... Thanks for your reply I hope I get better soon :)
