How do you get rid of Laryngitis?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to cure laryngitis? With home remedies, over the counter meds...anything would be helpful at this point in time! Thanks

Re: How do you get rid of Laryngitis?

There isn't a cure, or sure-fire way to get "rid" of it. Basically, you just need to treat it properly for the fastest recovery.

You need to rest your voice, most importantly. Speak softly only when necessary, and don't strain your vocal chords (no yelling, etc).

You can help the uncomfortableness by sucking on a lozenge, hard candy, or cough drop. Use a humidifier to help the dryness. Ibuprofen or Tylenol should help with any pain you experience. Drink warm beverages-- honey and lemon water seems to help.

Also, it's important not to smoke, and refrain from smoke-filled places.

My daughter gets this all the time. It's not easy keeping a five year old quiet.
This sounds nasty but really helps.... I take equal parts vinegar and honey and take 6 teaspoons a day. I can't take any over the counter cough meds and my Dr. suggested this. You can feel it clearning all that stuff out of your throat and it really helps with the voice. You can also add lemon
