Flu Shot while on Amoxicillin?

I had a sinus infection last week and am currently on Amoxicillin for it. Symptoms are gone and I feel fine, but will be still taking my antibiotic for a few more days after I plan on getting a flu shot Sunday.

Is it okay to get the flu shot while on an antibiotic?

You deffinetly should not be getting the flu shot, or any other vaccinations while you are sick or still on medication from being sick. The same goes for a child. Your doctor should know this, and I can't imagine any physician giving you a flu shot if they are aware that you are sick and on medication.

Re: Flu Shot while on Amoxicillin?

Well, too late now. Went to the drugstore that was giving out flu shots and I got one. I didn't see anything on the form about being on an antibiotic as being a warning not to get one; just if you are experiencing a sickness at that time, which I'm not now.

I feel fine. Sinus infection was about 10 days ago and I think it cleared up quick anyway once I took the amoxicillin. I'm basically on the last day or so of prescribed pills.

I guess I'll find out if I erred in judgement.

Re: Flu Shot while on Amoxicillin?

I got both the flu shot and the pneumoshot the day after finishing Omnicef for a sinus infection, and I got the worst cold!!! I am now just getting over it after a week. It could have been other things too, the weather here in WI has been loopy, 60's then 30's then 60's then 30' again with in two weeks.

I thought I'd be smart and asked for the flu shot in the left arm, because I mostly lift things at work with my right. The nurse forgot I was supposed to get both, and then gave me the pneumo shot in the right arm. That's the one that hurt for a week!

Hope you screwed up in reverse and all went weel for you, sunnydaze1 !

Flu shots should never be given while your sick. Even though you have no symptoms, wait until your done with your Amoxicillin. It's better to be on the safe side.
