Flu/cold/sore throat every month

Since a year or so I am down with a cold/flu or a throat infection almost on a monthly basis. Each time it is the same. Each time it takes about 3-4 days after which I start to feel better.

I visited the doctor about this many times and often I got antibiotics. Usually the story is "your immune system is weak because of insufficient sleep, too much stress, not enough vitamins etc etc".

I have tried everything to improve my immune system: high dosages of vitamines, sports, less stress, more sleep. Yet there is no noticable difference. I still get sick each month.

What can i do? What checkup do i need to get answers? Any help is appreciated!

Rick

Re: Flu/cold/sore throat every month

Continously taking antibiotics throughout the year isn't advisable. Do you still have your tonsils? I used to get sick numerous times per year and it was all due to my tonsils which were badly infected, but doctors overlooked this and kept me on antibiotics which were an absolute disaster and caused a massive growth of candida in my body which led onto other problems.

I have since had my tonsils removed which has helped a great deal. The other thing i have done is taking odourless garlic capsules on a daily basis with either breakfast or lunch. I did this for a few years and if ever i did get sick i would recover fast. I then got lazy and stopped taking the garlic capsules for a couple of years and this week i'm back on them as i'm recovering from a two week cold and flu which is the nastiest i've had in years.

If you are on antibiotics you should be taking a daily probiotic so that the antibiotic doesnt kill off all your good bacteria.

Re: Flu/cold/sore throat every month

It actually sounds like you may have sinus problems- you should visit an ENT and get your sinus cavities checked out. The sore throat is most likely due to post nasal drip- this is when mucus is drained down the back of the throat often as a result of increased mucus production and sinus congestion.

If your mucus is either green or yellow in color you probably have a sinus infection.
