i have the same problem. a few days before my period comes i get a sore throat, then my neck starts to feel tight (like someone one is putting pressure on it with their hands, or like my muscles and tendons are swollen) i believe this to be swollen lymph in my neck, along with the tight neck comes thick viscus phlegm and stuffed up ears, also i feel tired, and disconnected from my body the whole time. the funny thing is that my period is really light only one day of heavy bleading and then only light spotting.

i went to the doctor and they said that there is no connection between my period and these recurring flu-like symptoms. although i dont believe them because they perscribed me birth control(BC) to see if the symptoms would go away. and they did for the 2 1/2 years i took the BC and about 1 year after i stoped taking the BC. so thats 3 1/2 years free of this problem. this leads me to believe that i have a hormone imbalance because the BC fixed the problem. i am planning on going to my new doc to get some more tests and possilbly going back on BC.

other things to consider in my case is that my mother has Chronic Fatigue Syndrom and also has had thyroid problems. i did not know that there was a test for CFS, so maybe ill ask about that. and my thyroid is normal as of 3 months ago.

has anyone else had this experience with BC relieving the symptoms? or has anyone had this diagnosed?
