My mom and I got into an arguement today about why you throw up when you have the flu. She said it was because you have the flu. Then I said it was when you had a runny nose and sucked it back up too much, makes you stomach upset then makes you vomit...I want to know who was right or if we were both wrong.

Re: What causes you to vomit when you have the flu?
you are both wrong...sort of! there is a difference between the fever runny nose flu and vomiting flu...vomiting flu isnt actually a flu so much as a parasite that is in your intestines and our bodies try to get rid of it...for some reason people call it the flu and it gets mixed up with the "real" flu.The real flu they have immunizations for the vomiting one they dont....i suppose one could get grossed out from swallowing too much muccus but they are really 2 different things...also i imagine if you have the real flu and you vomit it could be the result of either catching the tummy one too (unlikely) or the fact you have a fever and generally have a weak immune system.
