whiskey for a chest cold

when you initially feel a chest cold coming on, will drinking some whiskey help shorten the lenght of the sickness or knock it out altogether? or does the whiskey just help treat symptoms of the cold/cough?

Re: whiskey for a chest cold

I think the whiskey just helps you not care if you're sick Some people have a "hot toddy" when they have a fever and it helps them sleep. You can also mix honey, whiskey and lemon juice for a cough syrup. Use all sparingly, of course.
