| Re: flying with bad head/chest cold?
I was told only after I landed and was in pain and couldn't hear, to go buy ear plugs, and this keeps the pressure out and would prevent the horrible pain I was in when I flew back. I had flown before this without the pain and deafness, but did not know I had fluid in my ears from allergies this time, and had nonstop popping and symptoms while flying, then pain in both ears, then they were completely plugged by the time we landed. I ended up in severe pain and deaf the whole night. Your sinuses and ear canals are connected, so when you have a cold, it can also turn into fluid in the ears or ear infection. Flying causes even more pressure aggravating it further, so the plugs keep the extra pressure out preventing even more problems.
